Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Software Consulting Engineer, you will be a part of the US Public Sector Delivery Team who leads the ongoing Services relationship with our Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) customer. You will be responsible for attending customer meetings, being a main point of contact for Cisco SDN related projects, and providing proactive consulting services including software assessments, software strategy, best practices, knowledge transfers, design review, proof-of-concepts, and troubleshooting support.

Client: Cisco
Role: Python Application Developer
Remote Capabilities (Y/N): Remote position with some travel (less than 25% of the time and expects it to be much less but need to be open to 10-25% at max)

  • Must be willing to work east coast hours and travel will be to that area

Clearance: Top Secret highly preferred - can hold up to TS. If strong USC candidate, open to clearance
Project Details:

  • Mid-level software engineer with strong Python background
  • Interacting with software programs and with some of the network side (Cisco)

Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:

  • They will be doing python integration with Cisco SL - working heavily with REST APIs, YANG data structures, etc.
    • No front-end components needed - all back-end

What are the top must-have technologies/required experience for the position?

  • Strong Python software engineering background (Object-oriented work - not just python scripting work - no specific frameworks required)
    • May flex to someone with JAVA background as well if they have even some basic knowledge of Python and are willing to move into that type of environment but all coding will be Python
  • REST APIs

    • Preferred (but not required) qualifications:

  • Networking/Cisco background or certs
  • DevOps knowledge

    • Needed Soft Skills/Company Culture:

    • Willingness and flexibility to learn new things

    Education or Certification Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar degree highly preferred but experience alone will work
    • Cisco certifications are a huge plus

    Level of experience target (junior/mid/senior and/or years of experience):

    • Open to 2+ years of experience
