Job Description:

Job Description – Zinc Projects Python Developer

Zinc requires a software engineer to assist with the delivery of high-profile business analysis products. We are using Python and an Oracle Exadata back end to collect data from around the firm for reporting and analytics. Core to the project is a proprietary data warehouse solution so any experience with data warehousing would be an advantage.

The team is typically responsible for servicing regulatory projects (such as FRTB) with data, using the in-house developed no-sql interface to extract the data prior to delivery.

Requirements:

A successful candidate must have five years of python development and some comfort with SQL and Relational databases and UNIX shell scripting.  Exposure to Java or C++ may be considered depending on experience, but Python is preferred.

In addition to Python, experience with object databases and relational databases is preferred and specific experience with Oracle Exadata is an advantage.

The candidate must have been a significant party in multiple successful enterprise project deliveries with a minimum of three years relevant experience at this level.

The candidate will be responsible for mapping user requirements to system requirements, system requirements to technical specifications, and specs to functionality and will interact directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and progress projects.

At this level, the candidate should be comfortable mentoring other team members, actively contribute to design reviews and pro-actively engaging with other teams in order to resolve issues.

Experience in Institutional Finance IT (risk generation, risk reporting, trade capture, etc.) would be an advantage but is not required.

The position involves no travel. However, due to the global nature of the team good communication skills will be essential and occasional out-of-hours meetings to connect with teammates in different time-zones will be required.

The candidate may infrequently be called upon to perform off-hours support.
