Counterparty portfolio management (CPM) IT team operates horizontally covering majority of over the counter asset classes including Fixed Income, commodities, Foreign Exchange trades for application related to counterparty default risk, Counterparty valuation adjustment (CVA), Funding valuation adjustment (FVA), Risk weighted assets (RWA) etc. The Bank is driving an ambitious, multi-year initiative aimed at building Risk Engine that makes it possible to manage trading and risk of Counterparty default risk in a more holistic manner and to respond more effectively to the changing regulatory landscape. At the heart of this transformation is the Quartz Core Platform, which provides a development framework used by other developers within the bank. Some of the key components of the Quartz Core Platform include: a globally distributed, object based database (developed in-house); a graph (DAG) based framework to manage object dependencies; a bi-temporal deal model for all financial instruments; a high performance computational grid and a Python based GUI framework. CPM team leverages these components to build high performance risk engine.

CPM is looking for a software engineer in charge of developing, supporting and maintaining multiple components for the FVAC Remote Risk batch. The candidate in this position will work closely with technology, business and quant teams to:

  • Develop new initiatives for the FVAC batch such as IBOR curve migration, and YCGT template adoption.
  • Improve performance of the FVAC batch to meet challenging SLAs after trade population increase.
  • Provide support to the FVAC traders that manage risk. Respond to traders' queries on FVAC valuation on timely manner and with high accuracy. This position will also be responsible to support queries coming from Market Risk or from CCAR related reporting.
  • Write high quality Python code to add new feature
  • Write highly modular, API driven pluggable code
  • Come up with designs to reduce heavy I/O between networks
  • Maintain the required code and test coverage levels for modules
  • Prototype improvement ideas
  • Support the Quartz user community
  • Internal discussion forums, technical sharing sessions
  • Troubleshooting developer issues etc.
  • Work effectively with the global team
  • Develop expertise in the relevant features of Quartz, XVA Applications.
  • Use Agile development methodology to deliver all functionalities

Responsible for designing and developing complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Ensures that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns. At this level, specializations start to form in either Architecture, Test Engineering or DevOp. Contributes to story refinement/defining requirements. Participates and guides team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle. Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas. Codes solutions and unit tests to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements. Utilizes multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements. Assists team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work. Designs/develops/modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained. Designs/develops/maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance). Sets up and develops a continuous integration/continuous delivery pipeline. Automates manual release activities. Mentors other Software Engineers and coaches team on CI-CD practices and automating tool stack. Individual contributor.
